WW2015 – Between HONORING, PRESERVING and EXPLORING

On August 14th 2015, Wim Wenders will celebrate his 70th birthday. All across the world institutions have seized the occasion to honor various facets of his artistic work over the coming year.

You can gain a comprehensive overview of all of these activities in our on-line calendar and keep track of newly added events as the calendar continues to grow over the coming months. For Wim Wenders, his staff and the whole foundation team, the events to come also represent the fruits of our highly concentrated labor over the past two years.  A life’s work can only be honored if it’s visible. Ensuring visibility requires preservation, maintenance and care. The restoration and digitization work of the last year has brought a first large portion of the Wenders filmography back to life. Gradually we are now beginning to open our doors to the public.

A retrospective look at a complex body of work is one side of our story, moving forward to explore ever new challenges another: Besides looking forward to the presentation of new photographic work and the publication of new texts, we are extraordinarily delighted that the new feature film EVERY THING WILL BE FINE will be celebrating its world premiere in Official Selection (out of competition) at the 65th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival. In addition, we would like to extend our congratulations once again for the Oscar nomination for The Salt of the Earth.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners and companions along the way thus far who have helped us so generously with their advice, hands-on support and financial contributions, thus making possible all of that which lies ahead!

On behalf of the Wim Wenders Stiftung,

Laura Schmidt
