FILM- UND MEDIENSTIFTUNG NRW ANNOUNCES CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR ANNUAL AWARDING OF WIM WENDERS GRANT

This year, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, in cooperation with the Wim Wenders Foundation, will present the Wim Wenders Scholarship for the eighth time. A selection committee chaired by Wim Wenders and including Film Foundation Director Petra Müller, will judge the applications in a two-stage process.

The renowned scholarship has been awarded annually since 2014 and is endowed with a total budget of around €100,000. It supports young filmmakers from Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia who want to apply new methods of telling stories. Applications can be submitted to the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW by Friday, July 30th at the latest.

Among past scholarship recipients are Eibe Maleen Krebs with her intense drama “Draussen in meinem Kopf“ (“Outside in My Head”), which received the Max Ophüls Youth Jury Prize in 2018, Erik Schmitt with his big-city fairy tale “Cleo”, which opened the Berlinale Generation section in 2019, as well as Valentin Riedl and his documentary film “Lost in Face”, which received both the Audience Award for Documentary Film and the Award for Best Music in a Documentary Film in 2020, at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival.
