Film- und Medienstiftung NRW Announces Call for Applications for Sixth Annual Awarding of Wim Wenders Grant

In co-operation with the Wim Wenders Stiftung, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW has announced the call for applications for the sixth annual Wim Wenders Grant. The grant is intended to serve as support for young filmmakers from Germany, in particular from North Rhine-Westphalia, who are pursuing unique visions for the development of new narrative means and the enrichment of our common visual language.

In the scope of a two-stage application process, a jury, chaired by Wim Wenders and also featuring Filmstiftung CEO Petra Müller, is responsible for selecting the recipients of the grant, which is endowed with an annual budget of up to 100,000 euros. Applications for the Wim Wenders Grant should be submitted to the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW no later than July 31, 2019.

According to the bylaws, the grant is intended to support the development of project ideas that combine the narrative concept with an impressive formal and aesthetic creative vision. Among other things, the application documentation must include an approximately ten-page description of the project concept, a budget calculation, a CV and an audiovisual directorial reference project or a filmed reference script from the applicant. After selection by the jury, grant recipients have 18 months to develop their ideas.

All relevant information and documentation relating to the Wim Wenders Grant is currently available at www.filmstiftung.de. Since its inception, the Wim Wenders Grant has been awarded to 21 projects.
