For the tenth time, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW announces the Wim Wenders Scholarship, as always in cooperation with the Wim Wenders Foundation. A selection committee chaired by Wim Wenders and including Filmstiftung managing director Petra Müller decides on the applications in a two-stage procedure.
The renowned scholarship has been awarded annually since 2014 and has a total budget of 100,000 euros. It supports young filmmakers from Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia in particular who want to tell stories using new means. Applications can be submitted to the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW by Friday, 30 June at the latest. Among the grant holders are Bettina Blümner and the road movie “Vamos a la Playa”, which opened the Achtung Berlin Film Festival this year and celebrated its world premiere at the 2022 Zurich Film Festival, Marten Persiel and “Everything will change”, which won the Audience Award at the Max Ophüls Prize in 2022 and received the NDR Young Talent Award and the Creative Energy Award of the Filmfest Emden, and Valentin Riedl and the documentary “Lost in Face”, which also won the Audience Award for Documentary Film and the Award for Best Music in a Documentary Film at the Max Ophüls Prize in 2020.
