Lisbon Story (4K restored Version): Preview in Frankfurt

This year, the Wim Wenders Foundation marks the 25th anniversary of Lisbon Story. On that occasion, we are taking part in “A Season of Classic Films” with a screening at the DFF – the German film institute and museum in Frankfurt.

On todays UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage we celebrate this important moment in film history together with the DFF in Frankfurt:

Created as an homage to the city of Lisbon and the world of sound, marking 100 years of film history, the movie has lost none of its power or significance in the 25 years since. Lisbon is a favorite destination for travelers and the long drive across a Europe without borders that opens the film is now, more than ever, a vision and a symbol of a Europe united in freedom and peace. The soundtrack made the group Madradeus worldfamous.

“A Season of Classic films” is supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA program. The digitization of Lisbon Story was enabled by the support of the Förderprogramm Filmerbe (subsidy program for film legacy), financed by the German Commission for Culture and the Media (BKM), the federal states, and Germany’s national film funding institution, the FFA.
